In 2006, I set up one of the earliest reproductive immunology unit in China. A major focus of my scientific interest is on reproductive immunology, with particular regard to the establishment and maintenance of normal maternal-fetal immune tolerance, and the immunological or metabolic-immunological pathogenesis and therapeutic strategies on the pregnancy related diseases (including pre-eclampsia, recurrent miscarriage and repeated implantation failure after IVF-ET). Especially, our team pay more attention to clarifying the underlying mechanism of the above-mentioned pregnancy complications with regards to (i) the Treg/Th17 balance, (ii) macrophage polarization, (iii) PD-1/PD-L1 and Tim-3/Gal-9 signaling pathway, and (iv) the regulation of vitamin D, and to determining the roles of PD-1/PD-L1 signaling pathway in the privileged sites as testis. Also, we focus on exploring the therapeuticstrategies targeting the PD-1/Tim-3 signaling pathway on pregnancy-related diseases.
