Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology adheres to the inheritance of medical education for 100 years and firmly takes root in the land of China to run medical education.
In 1956, Tongji Medical College began to recruit graduate students. It is one of the first batch of units authorized by the State Council to confer doctor's degree and master's degree. It is also one of the first batch of pilot institutions to carry out the cultivation of clinical medical professional degree graduate students, and has been selected into the first batch of "outstanding doctor training program" reform projects of pilot units.
Medical postgraduate education adheres to the main line of service demand and quality improvement, promotes personnel training in multiple ways, checks degree granting in multiple directions, carries out international exchanges through multiple channels, strengthens professional quality education through diversified platforms, and implements classified cultivation of academic and professional postgraduates. Through continuous exploration and practice, rich experience has been accumulated in running a school, and established a medical high-level personnel training system which is in line with the national standards and international norms.
Tongji Medical college gives full play to the multidisciplinary advantages of comprehensive universities, actively build high-level courses, cutting-edge scientific and technological exploration projects and major research platforms, cultivate high-end talents, and improve the innovation ability of graduate students. 167 medical postgraduate courses are set up annually, and 80 plus high-level international courses and 8 high-level experimental courses are built for medical postgraduates.
There are 1 National Medical Center, 2 national scientific research bases, 2 Provincial and ministerial joint construction key laboratories, 12 ministerial key laboratories, 8 key laboratories of Hubei Province and 1 Engineering Laboratory research center of Hubei Province. There are 2 innovation groups approved by National Natural Science Foundation of China, 6 innovation teams of Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and 11 innovation groups of Hubei Province.
The college has a strong faculty resources and a wide range of medical disciplines. At present, there are 1,191 graduate student tutors, including 583 doctoral tutors. At present, there are 10 discipline authorized to offer doctoral degree program, 10 discipline authorized to offer master degree program, and 7 discipline authorized to offer professional degree.
