On Sept.4,2018, more than 10 medical students from different German Universities like University of Heidelberg, University of Duisburg-Essen, Charité Universitäts medizin Berlin etc., visited the History Corridor and had a short but fruitful discussion about their internship experience at Tongji Medical College.

Prof. Chenguided their visit of the History Corridor and gave a detailed explanation, with Miss ZHANG Yingjie from IEO the interpreter of German. The corridor is rich in pictures and historic relics about Tongji Medical College, which enable the German students to understand the development of TMC in the past 110 years as well as its strong tie with Germany. 

Then Prof. Chen showed a video about Dr. Erich Paulun, founder of Tongji Medical College and made a presentation in PPT introducing his father Prof. Dr. CHEN Ren, who obtained his doctor degree in medicine from the University Giessen, Germany. The introduction was very inspiring and let the German students know the TMC’s German origin and the long-standing friendship established between China and Germany in medicine.

After the visit,a short discussion was chaired by Mr. CHEN Gong – Assistant Director of IEO. The students shared their experience about internship in the Affiliated Union Hospital and Tongji Hospital.

Overall, students cherished this valuable opportunity offered by TMC to make internship in Wuhan. They extended their heartfelt thanks to TMC’s warm hospitality and tutors’earnest instructions. They also spoke highly of the volunteers as well as the one-week experience in Optical Valley Hospital. Meanwhile, the schedule and some departments for internship still have some room for improvement.

During the discussion, German students talked freely and cheerfully. Mr. Chen Gong expressed his best wishes and hoped they should inherit the good trandition between TMC and their mother schools and serve as the bridge for Sino-German medicine exchange in the future.
