On 25th Sep. 2018 Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell, President of the University of Manchester led a delegation to visit the Tongji Medical College, as part of the activities related to “HUST-University of Manchester Open Day”.
Prof. Rothwell delivered a speech titled “A Life in Science”to 300+ audience at the Conference Center on 4th Floor of No. 2 Building of TMC. Prof. CHEN Jianguo, Vice President of HUST and Dean of Tongji Medical College, warmly welcomed Prof. Rothwell and cordially introduced Prof. Rothwell with an opening remarks. He expressed his good wishes to further cooperation with UoM. Among the audience, there were 40+ alumnis from Hubei Alumni Association of UoM, heavyweight professors, researchers and leaders from scientific research institutes and related departments of TMC.
In her speech, Prof. Rothwell elaborated on her own academic research and career development experience. She made a special effort in analyzing the roles and characteristics of female senior leaders in HEI, which received enthusiastic response from staff and students of TMC. After the speech, many students and teachers raised questions of their own interest. A group photo was taken by Prof. Rothwell with Hubei Alumni Association of UoM.
After the speech, the delegation of UoM headed by Prof. Rothwell paid a visit to the laboratories in the School of Basic Medicine. Experts showed great interests in these experimental platforms as well as the undergoing neuroscience research.
