The 20thNationalCollege Track and Field Championships was held at Zhejiang University from July 31 to August 5.The event was hosted by the Federationof University Sports of China (FUSC) and the Chinese Athletics Association. A total of 2,778 athletes and coaches from 255 universities across the country participated in the event. 18 HUSTers won 2 gold and 2 silver medals. Ma Shushu and Wang Haoxiang were both given the honor “Excellent Athlete”, while Gong Xiuchun won the title of “Excellent Coach”.

To better implement epidemic prevention and control,HUSTathletes complied with local regulations and took daily temperature readings.

Ma Shushu (3rd from the left) won the gold medal in the Group C Women’s Discus with a throw of 51,03m, and the silver medal of Women’s Shot Put in Group C with a throw of 15.24m. “The 2021 Championship will be my last major tournament as a college athlete,” Ma said, “Winning one gold and one silver medal is a satisfactory closing for my college athletics career. ”

Wang Haoxiang (2nd from the left) took the crown in the Group D Men’s Shot Put with a throw of 17.32m. He said: “One needs to go through trials and tribulations to be strong. My achievement in this championship made up for my disappointment in the National Student Sports Games, and boosted my confidence. This is my first tournament since I entered HUST, and I believe the future will be in my hands.”

Shen Ni (right) got the silver medal in the Group D Women’s 1500mfinishing in4′37″10. She was firmly convinced that “there are few decisive battles one can encounter in the whole life”, so we should all seize every opportunity to play at full throttle for victory and dream.
