Prof. Ning Qin, Dean of the Infection Department of Affilated Tongji Hospital, as the chief editor, published a monograph on August 15 which systematically and rationally expatiates ove severe Hepatitis B. The monograph, titled Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Hepatitis (two volumes), is edited totally in English and was published by world-renowned Springer Press (one of the universal largest science and technology press) and the Publishing House of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, distributed online-offline simultaneously around the world.
The Chinese version titled the Basic and Clinical Research on Severe Hepatitis B, is a "12th 5-year"national key project by the GAPP (The General Administration of Press and Publication),a national key basic research development plan (" 973" Plan) by the Ministry of Science and Technology,and the achievement of the"Basic Researchon the Clinical Monitoring and Prevention of Severe Hepatitis B", sponsored by the National Publishing Funds and Special Funding of Hubei Social Public Welfare.
The English version was prefaced and strongly recommended by Professor Gary Levy, a world-famous expert in hepatology and virology and the former Chairman of Canadian Digestive Association. It was also largely endorsed by the"Chinese Book Overseas Promotion Plan" under the Information Office of the State Council of the People's Republic of China.
More than 50 well-known experts at home and abroad were invited to contribute to this monograph which systematically condensed and summarized the latest researchings on the pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, prevention and prognosis of severe Hepatitis B,providing valuable reference on the treatment strategy for end-stage liver diseases. The book’s publication represents Chinese theory and practise of severe Hepatitis B to the world by means of English academic works, fully demonstrates the Chinese scholars’self-confidence in the field of Hepatitis B.
