On June 5, 2018,Professor Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti,Vice President of Mahidol University, Thailand, and Prof. Piyamitr Sritara, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital together with other 14 representatives visited Tongji Medical College.

Prof.Chen Jianguo, Vice President of HUST and Dean of Tongji Medical College expressed his warm welcome to the delegationand stated it’s a honor to host a world-renowned university like Mahidol University who ranks first in Thailand.He pointed out that Asian universities are committed to building world-class universities. As there is a great complementarity between our two universities and we can strengthen cooperation and progress together for mutual benefit.

Prof.Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Executive Vice President of International Relations and Exchange Cooperation at Mahidol University, introduced the teaching, research and campus facilities of the University and its affiliated Ramathibodi Hospital. She stated that the main purpose of the delegation’s visit was to seek cooperation opportunities with Tongji Medical College, and she particularly hoped that in-depth exchanges and cooperation could be carried out with Tongji Medical College in some key disciplines such as bioengineering, nursing, and traditional Chinese medicine.Mahidol hopes to develop a strategic partnership with Tongji Medical College. In response, President Chen Jianguo answered that Tongji Medical College also has a good willing to cooperate with Mahidol. Both parties can discuss more about medical instrument manufacture,talents cultivation, cancer therapy, and integration of Chinese and Western medicine.It’s agreed that the two parties will maintain close contact,with the vision to carry out academic exchange and high-end visit.

After the meeting, the delegation visited the School of Nursing, the Department of Integrative Medicine and Pharmacy of Affiliated Tongji Hospital, and observed the implementation of Da Vinci Robot Surgical Operation.Delegates from Mahidol showed great interests in the Traditional Chinese Medicine disciplines and surgical-related devices. They also exchanged views on the development ideas, cooperation plans, and personnel exchange forms of related disciplines.

Mahidol University is a very prestigious institution of higher education in Thailand. It was founded in 1888 and formerly known as the Royal School of Medicine, named after Prince Mahidol of Songkhla, the father of modern medicine and public health in Thailand in 1969. It’s famous motto: “True success is not in the learning, but in its application to the benefit of mankind”. The school now has grown into a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary internationally renowned university in Thailand.
