On the afternoon of November 2, 2016, the School of Medicine and Health Management of Yichang City and Yichang City Center for Disease Control and Prevention jointly established the "Health and Big Data Research Center (Yichang) Center." The leaders of the two sides signed an agreement with the person in charge of the Yichang City Center for Disease Control and Prevention and held the opening ceremony.

The ceremony was host by Professor TAO Hongbing, Vice Dean of School of Medicine and Health Management. Attendees included Professor FENG Zhanchun, Dean of School of Medicine and Health Management, Professor ZHANG Liang, Associate Professor MA Jingdong, LIU Youkun, deputy director of Yichang City Health and Family Planning Commission, Yichang City Prevention and control center XU Yong, party secretary LI Xiaowen and members from Yichang City Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Vice Dean TAO Hongbing first announced the decision on the establishment of health data research (Yichang) Center. Then, LIU Youkun, deputy director read out the approvement from Yichang City Health Commission on the establishment of health data research (Yichang) Center. Subsequently, FENG Zhanchun and XU Yong, respectively, gave a speech on the establishment of a big health research center. FENG Zhaoxun, first president of the Health and Data Research Center set up the purpose and meaning to do a positive evaluation and interpretation of health data. Vice Dean TAO Hongbing also explained the significance of the establishment of the Health Data Research Center from the perspective of scientific research and development of health data. Professor ZHANG Liang made a concluding statement, he believes that the scientific analysis and utilization of large population data, is not only limited to achieve "healthy China, healthy city" , an important strategic goal, but also to attain health management for the whole population covering all aspects of life cycle.
