On the afternoon of June 1, the working meeting for the preparation of the establishment of the Sino-German Consortium on Medical Education (hereinafter referred to as the Consortium) was successfully held. The secretariats of the two sides held an online video conference on the preparatory work, and conducted in-depth discussion on the Chart of the Consortium, the tasks of the next step and the agenda of the founding meeting in October.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Germany and the 70th anniversary of the founding of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). Tongji Medical College of HUST actively responded to the principles which President XI Jinping emphasized in the video conference with German Chancellor Scholz on May 9, namely, the aspiration of developing bilateral relations, the sincere desire to strengthen cooperation and the confidence to jointly accomplish more achievement remains unchanged. Tongji Medical College will fully exert its traditional advantages and leading role in academic exchanges with Germany, determined to build the Consortium a new brand and platform for Sino-Germany cooperation.
Vice Dean Prof. SHU Xiaogang, on behalf of the Chinese Secretariat, briefed the Germans on the second preparatory meeting of Chinese universities. The two Secretariats had a heated discussion and conducted in-depth exchanges on the Chart of the Consortium. Both sides expressed good hope to bridge professors and achieve common development by pragmatic collaboration under this multilateral framework.
Relevant personnel from the Dean’s Office of Tongji Medical College, the Office of Teaching Affairs, the International Exchange Center participated in the working meeting.
