10th November 2022,the HUST-UTS Academic Lecture has been successfully held by the joint efforts of School Medicine and Health Management(HUST) and Artificial Intelligence Institute(UTS).
Dr. Yi Zhang from Artificial Intelligence Institute, University of Technology Sydney has delivered the speech on intelligent bibliometrics, titled Intelligent Bibliometrics for Tracking Technological Change. Associate Professor Wei Zhang (HUST) has moderated the lecture, and it attracted over 40 participants online.
During the lecture, Dr. Yi Zhang first reviewed the traditional bibliometric methods and their application characteristics in clustering ability, relationship measurement and prediction. He further elaborated on how AI and data science can be applied to practical scenarios, and gave an introduction with specific example about knowledge discovery and emerging technology characteristics in the COVID-19 literature. Finally, he explained the limitations and future prospects of intelligent bibliometric methods.
In the Q & A section, the participants has further exchange ideas on application principles and specific scenarios of intelligent bibliometrics with Dr. Yi Zhang. Speaking about the prospect of intelligent bibliometrics, Dr. Zhang Ling believes that intelligent bibliometrics will gradually overcome the shortcomings of traditional bibliometrics, and the future bibliometrics based on AI technology are worthy of in-depth study.
Dr. Wei Zhang has summarized that the discussion on intelligent bibliometrics with emerging AI technologies is of critical significance. This lecture promotes participants' cognition of intelligent bibliometrics and has a positive impact on the development of disciplines, including health informatics and library and information science.
This lecture has enlightened the participants with intelligent bibliometrics via novel AI technologies, broadened the international vision, and laid solid foundations for future collaboration between HUST and UTS.
