8 May 2023,the 3nd HUST Tongji Digital Health Salon has been successfully held by the joint efforts of School Medicine and Health Management(HUST) and Faculty of Science and Engineering (IU).
Prof. Jianwei Zhang, the Associate Professor from Faculty of Science and Engineering, Iwate University, has gave the talk on Automatic detection of cyberbullying. The panelist included Prof. Jingdong Ma (HUST), the Assistant Dean and Professor, School of Medicine and Health Management, and Prof. Bolin Cao(SZU), the Head and Associate Professor of Department of Internet and New Media, School of Media and Communication in Shenzhen University. Prof. Wei Zhang (HUST), the Associate Professor in Medical Informatics has moderated the lecture.

During the talk, Prof. Zhang first introduced his research team on social media data mining in Iwate University, Japan, and then he presented the cyberbullying detection with traditional machine learning and pretrained language models respectively, followed vivid demonstration of his recent research in sarcasm detection and human classification. Finally, he summarized the future direction of cyberbullying detection. In the discussion, the participants has further exchange ideas on the causes, risk factors and prevention strategies of cyberbullying in emerging digitalized environment.

Prof. Wei Zhang has summarized that it is important to notice the potential harm on the social media, and leverage it with novel technologies. Generative AI has opened a vast amount of space for digital health scholars to explore. This salon has enlightened the participants in social media based detection, and laid solid foundation for further international collaborations.
