13 July 2023,the 5th HUST Tongji Digital Health Salon has been successfully held by the joint efforts of School Medicine and Health Management(HUST) and School of Arts and Sciences (TU).
Prof. Qiang Fu, the Head of Department of Community health, School of Arts and Sciences, Tufts University, has gave the talk on Brief Introduction into Item Response Theory. The panelist included Prof. Jingdong Ma (HUST), the Associate Dean and Professor, School of Medicine and Health Management, and Prof. Zhiguo Zhang (HUST), the Professor of Department of Health Management, School of Medicine and Health Management. Prof. Wei Zhang (HUST), the Associate Professor in Medical Informatics has moderated the lecture.

During the talk, Prof.Fu first introduced the basic of Item Response Theory and its applications, and then he used an example the patient health questionnaire for depression for further elaborations. Finally, he presents the potential areas for researchers in health informatics and health management to explore the Item Response Theory. During the discussion, the participants have further exchange ideas on the applications in healthcare big data age.

Prof. Wei Zhang has summarized that it is of critical to master the use of statistical analysis methodology, and reconsider its application scenarios in the digital transition of healthcare leverage. Item Response Theory has much spaces for scholars in digital health and health management to explore. This salon has enlightened the participants in Item Response Theory, and laid solid foundation for further international collaborations.
