In order to implement the Global Development Strategy 2030 of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, introduce high-quality educational resources at home and abroad, expand students'international horizons, cultivate cross-cultural thinking, enhance teachers' international competitiveness and students' inte rnational competence, it is sponsored by the International Exchange Office of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The Global Summer School of HUST - 2023 Tongji Summer School co-sponsored by the School of Public Health of Tongji Medical College was successfully held from July 3 to August 4.
Tongji Summer School invited 18 medical experts from 7 countries, including China, UK, USA, Singapore, Netherlands, Sweden and Thailand, and 12 global partner schools to give lectures. It has opened a journey of Gastrointestinal Tract, Clinical Application of Epidemiology, International Standards and Registration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Natural Medicine, Methods and Practice of Nutrition Epidemiology, Medical Paper Writing, Qualitative Research Methods in the Field of Health Service and Management, Geriatric Nursing, Evidence-based Practice, Machine Learning under Medical Health, Child Health and Development. Human Reproductive Biology, Genetics and Molecular Epidemiology and other 13 courses in English.
These courses covered basic medicine, clinical medicine, public health, pharmacy, nursing, health management and other disciplines and fields, seven of which are taught by experts from home and abroad.
2023 Tongji Summer School attracted more than 800 students from 37 countries and regions and 48 universities around the world, and opened to off-campus students for the first time, welcoming more than 60 students from other domestic universities to study off-line in Tongji Medical College, with a total of more than 2400 students enrolled.
As many participants put it, this enriching program provided an in-depth exploration of UNICEF’s work in promoting children's health and development. Throughout the course, students had an incredible opportunity to learn directly from UNICEF officers. Most students said they were immensely grateful for this experience, which broadened their international perspective and kindled a passion for child health advocacy. They all expect to work towards a healthier and brighter future for children worldwide!
