Inaugural Forum on Public Health Talent Cultivation and Award Ceremony Successfully Held at Huazhong University of Science and Technology

On June 3rd, Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) marked a significant step in public health education by hosting the first Public Health Talent Cultivation Forum and the 2024 "China Vaccine Industry Association-MSD Elite Public Health Scholarship and Grant" award ceremony.

The event commenced with an address by Mr.Chen Qiusheng, Deputy Chair of Tongji Medical College, who extended thanks to the China Vaccine Industry Association and MSD for their commitment to fostering future public health leaders.



Mr.Yao Tongli, Vice Chairman of the China Vaccine Industry Association, celebrated the achievements of the award recipients and underscored the scholarship's role in supporting over 200 students in the field since 2022. The initiative aims to inspire further academic and practical engagement in public health.



Awardee representatives Li Ruyi and Zhang Zhe conveyed their appreciation for the support and their dedication to the advancement of public health in China, aligning with the school's ethos of pursuit of excellence and promotion of health.



The forum featured presentations by Zhang Xianfeng, Director of the Hubei Provincial CDC, and Wang Jigang, Director of the Wuhan CDC, who shared insights on nurturing exceptional public health professionals and enhancing disease control capabilities.



Alumna Xu Ping provided a perspective on career development in multinational corporations, drawing from her experiences to guide students in their professional journey.



Professor Chang Jiang, Vice Dean of School of Public Health, discussed the school's innovative "Three-Dimensional Education System," which is designed to develop public health leaders equipped with international perspective, national sentiments, Tongji style, and professional excellence to serve the Healthy China Initiative and contribute to a global health community.



Professor Pan An, Dean of School of Public Health, expressed gratitude to all supporters and partners, emphasizing the collective goal of exploring new paradigms in public health education to cultivate outstanding leaders for the new era.



The event was attended by over 100 representatives from the China Vaccine Industry Association, MSD, health departments, and the university, signifying a collaborative approach to shaping the future of public health.
