On the afternoon of May 28, 2024, Prof. Li Bingqin from the Centre for Social Policy Studies of the University of New South Wales, Australia, was invited to visit us and shared a lecture on "Research on the response and service model of loneliness of elderly immigrants in Australia - Focusing on the mental health of the elderly" in the 3rd Academic Lecture Hall of the School of Medicine and Health Management, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The lecture was hosted by Prof. Zhang Zhiguo, assistant dean of the School, with the participation of students and faculty members who are interested in geriatric health and community services.

Prof. Li Bingqin has visited and exchanged with our university for six times, and each time she brought us a wonderful speech. This time, Prof. Li continued to share the results of her research on the coping and service models of loneliness among elderly migrants in Australia in conjunction with her recent research findings. The lecture provided an in-depth analysis of loneliness and low social integration among older migrants in Australia, exploring the coping styles and problems faced by older migrants from different sectors, exploring how to cope and the effectiveness of different coping styles, as well as the conceptualization of further interventions needed to better address the social integration of older migrants and to maintain the mental health of the elderly. Prof. Li pointed out that the current research in this field is in the stage of booming and increasingly diversified, and encouraged researchers to explore new research directions and methods, and to achieve more valuable results through continuous accumulation.
