From June 19th to 21th, a German delegation led by Prof. Jan Buer, Dean of the Medical Faculty of Duisburg-Essen visited HUST, to promote cooperation with HUST in the field of medicine.
On behalf of HUST, Vice President Mrs. ZHAN Yiqing warmly welcomed Prof. Jan Buer and his delegation. She recalled the bilateral cooperation between the two faculties since 1980 in various fields such as infectious diseases, neurosurgery, proton therapy, etc. She also said that in recent years, two faculties have made remarkable achievements in joint scientific research and talent cultivation, and share the same vision and expectations in strengthening joint scientific research and promoting the cultivation of medical students, etc. She hoped that the two faculties will take this visit and exchanges as a good opportunity to promote practical cooperation and make greater contributions to building a human health community together.
Prof. Jan Buer expressed his heartfelt thanks for the warm reception of HUST. He reviewed the history of exchanges between the two faculties over the years and the results of co-operation in the fields of research and education. He hoped that the two faculties will continue to combine their strengths in the fields of infection and immunity, proton therapy, and medical education, and carry out in-depth exchanges in a wider range of fields.
At a follow-up meeting, President HU Yu from Union Hospital of Tongji Medical College of HUST and his colleagues met with the German guests. The two parties discussed the summer research training program for medical students and the enhancement of the cooperation platform in the field of infection and immunity. They reached a consensus on the continuous expansion of multidisciplinary cooperation and the promotion of joint training of talents. Representatives from the Office for International Affairs, Tongji Medical College and affiliated Union Hospital of HUST attended the activities.
The delegation also visited the Proton Medicine Centre and the Jinyinhu Campus of affiliated Union Hospital.
During this visit, the German delegation participated in the Annual Symposium of Sino-German Cooperation and Exchange Program 2024 and the 7th Sino-German Joint Lecture on Medical Academics held at the Affiliated Union Hospital.
