Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) welcomed two distinguished German academicians: Professor Ingrid Fleming and Professor Thomas Braun, for strategic discussions on strengthening scientific partnerships.Mr. ZHANG Tao, Vice Chairman of University Board of HUST, met with the delegation at Mingren Building.

Strategic Collaboration Framework
Mr. ZHANG emphasized HUST's commitment to talent cultivation, which is the bedrock of its quest to build up a world-class university . "This visit will help advance our talent-centered approach to become a globally-renown university." ZHANG stated, mentioning the consensus reached when Prof. ZHANG Guangjun, the Chairman of University Board of HUST, visited Goethe University and Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research in Frankfurt this April. He proposed to use the Sino-German Cardio-Pulmonary Science Laboratory as a base to create a cooperation mode of "joint talent cultivation, collaborative research, and technological translation" to jointly address global health challenges.

Academicians Endorse Partnership
Looking back, Prof. Fleming stated: "Over the past five years, our joint projects with Professor Hu Jiong's and Professor Wang Daowen's teams – covering high-level mutual visits, international conferences, student exchanges, and joint graduate programs – have yielded breakthrough results." She praised HUST's academic vitality and global visions that give her confidence in future cooperation.

Prof. Braun highly spoke of the educational excellence the HUST has attained. He mentioned his experience of giving lecture on "Thinking in Medical Scientific Research" to undergraduates: "The critical and innovative thinking exhibited by HUST students was very impressive." He proposed to set up a joint laboratory to promote the cultivation of versatile talents.

During their visit, the two German Professors participated in the Cardio-Pulmonary Laboratory planning session and paid a visit to Precision Medicine Center and Experimental Animal Center of HUST.
