A delegation from Tongji Medical College at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) visited Peking University Health Science Center (PKUHSC) on June 17 to exchange insights on medical education reform, disciplinary development, and scientific innovation. The visit aimed to learn from PKUHSC the experience in educational re-structuring to inform the formulation of Tongji’s 15th Five-Year Medical Development Plan in alignment with national guidelines.

Led by Mr. QIN Xuanbin, Deputy Party Secretary, the delegation was warmly received by PKUHS leadership, including Vice Director Mr. XIAO Yuan. The guests first toured the PKUHSC Centennial Exhibition, where they learned about the institution’s century-long commitment to medical excellence, innovation, and social responsibility.

A symposium was held, featuring presentations by Mr. LUO Youhui, Deputy Director of the Office of Education, Mr. DENG Rui, Deputy Director of the Office of Scientific Research, and Mr. XU Ming, Executive Vice Dean of the Graduate School. They shared PKUHSC’s experience in talent development, research management, and disciplinary development. Representatives from both institutions had in-depth discussions regarding governance of medical school affiliated to a university, high-level talent recruitment, top-notch student training, and strategic planning for scientific innovation.

Thirteen representatives from Tongji Medical College—including leaders from functional departments, medical schools, and affiliated hospitals—took part in the exchange trip. Both sides expressed interest in deepening bilateral collaboration to advance medical education and research innovation in China.
