A delegation from the University of Bristol visited the School of Public Health, Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), for in-depth discussions on talent cultivation and scientific research cooperation. In a meeting, Prof. PAN An, Dean of the School of Public Health, and representatives from HUST talked with Liang-Fong WONG, Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor for Global Engagement at the University of Bristol, Prof. Helen Lambert from Bristol’s Faculty of Medicine.
Prof. PAN extended a warm welcome to the delegation and highlighted the school’s recent progress in discipline construction, research innovation, talent training, and international cooperation. Prof. PAN emphasized that deepening international partnerships is a key strategy for advancing the school’s high-quality growth and enhancing its global influence. Assistant Dean Prof. LIU Gang shared ideas on optimizing joint talent cultivation and promoting faculty exchanges, expressing the school’s commitment to promoting joint training program and mutual visits of scholars.

Prof. WONG introduced the University of Bristol’s strategic framework for international education and collaboration, expressing strong interest in expanding existing ties with HUST. Discussions covered potential areas such as faculty exchange programs, renewal of cooperation agreements, and expanded educational partnerships. Prof. Lambert shared insights from Bristol’s interdisciplinary research initiatives, offering valuable perspectives for future scientific collaboration.

The two sides reached a preliminary consensus on key areas for cooperation, including faculty exchange program, joint student training, and summer programs. The visit strengthened the mutual understanding and laid the groundwork for a long-term, institutionalized partnership in public health and medicine.
