Students from the School of Nursing, Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) participated in summer exchange programs at Hong Kong Polytechnic University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong during the summer of 2026. The programs provided opportunities for academic exchange, clinical visits, research training, and cultural immersion.

PolyU Summer Exchange Program
Undergraduate students XIONG Songyi and HUANG Miaoxi took part in the 2026 Summer Exchange Program at Hong Kong Polytechnic University's School of Nursing. The two-week program featured academic lectures covering nursing education, smart nursing technologies, and clinical applications, alongside visits to healthcare institutions including Lei Muk Shue Nursing Home and Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital. Students saw state-of-the-art simulation equipment and had a hands-on experience with a virtual hospital system incorporating VR technology.

A notable event was the "Darkness Experience" activity, where students navigated daily life scenarios guided by visually impaired instructors, deepening their empathetic experience in nursing care. Mental health workshops on sustainable well-being further enriched the experience.

CUHK Research Program
CHEN Fei was selected among only five HUST students for The Chinese University of Hong Kong's 2026 Summer Research Experience Program. Under the supervision of Prof. TANG Zhihui, she investigated integrating hearing aids into elderly care through AI, exploring interventions to slow down cognitive decline in aging populations with hearing loss.

Her research systematically reviewed evidence linking age-related hearing loss to dementia risk, emphasizing AI-assisted screening and hearing aid adoption. She was involved in academic interviews and delivered a final presentation on evidence-based methodologies to attending scholars.

Students expressed their deep appreciation for the programs, highlighting how the experiences broadened their professional horizons, solidified humanistic values, and provided valuable research training that will inform their future academic pursuits.
