From August 23rd to August 31st, 2019, 106 pharmacy students from the generation 2017 went to Lushan and conducted an 8-day field internship of Medicinal Plants.

Medicinal Plants is an important course for pharmacy students. After studied medicinal plants by course, all the pharmacy students will go to Lushan every year to study the plants in nature. During this eight day’s internship, they have to recognize 150 plants including their Latin name, Family name and species and an exam will be held at the last day of the internship.

This internship is directed by Professor Wang Jianping, together with the other eight professors from School of Pharmacy. In the day time, students recognize the plants in nature starting by knowing the figures of the leafs, root, stem of the plants and specimen were made at night. We also had 15 German students from Marburg University in this field study. They were impressed by how this program was organized and would like to introduce more German students to join this program in future.

On August 27th, the deputy secretary of the Party Committee Zhou Zhenghang, and Vise Dean, Professor Xiang Guangya also joined this internship. They were deeply concerned about the life and study of the students, and communicated with the students about their impression and experience in Lushan.

Although the internship in Lushan is over, the careful guidance of the teachers, the professional knowledge gained, the difficulties of mountain trekking, and the warmth of teamwork are always valuable memories of the students.
