On October 14th, Professor Leng Chee Chang from the School of Pharmacy, University of Hawaii and Professor F. David Horgen from the School of Natural Sciences, University of the Pacific were invited to give an online report hosted by Professor Yao Guangmin, the course leader of "pharmaceutical stereochemistry", for teachers and students of the School of Pharmacy. The participants reached 47, including Professor Ruan hanli.

Professor Leng Chee Chang and Professor F. David Horgen shared their latest research progress in Natural Medicinal Chemistry with topics of "Structures and stereochemistry of natural products from medical plants" and "Determining the stereochemistry of bioactive natural products", especially the research experience and application examples in determining the stereochemistry and absolute configuration of active natural products by using chemical methods such as computational ECD, computational VCD, single crystal X-ray diffraction, chemical derivatization and total synthesis formula, which provided valuable experience and application practice for solving the problem of absolute configuration similarity of natural products. The report by the two professors aroused great interest among the participants. In combination with their own research topics, they had an in-depth exchange and learned related experience. The report was lively and academic.

Since "Pharmaceutical Stereochemistry" established in 2019, it has invited many experts in related fields at home and abroad to give special lectures. This online report once again broadened the research ideas and international vision of postgraduates, and also had positive significance in promoting postgraduates to communicate in English.
