Delegation led by Prof. Rhonda BeLue from Saint Louis University School of Public Health and Social Justice visited the school

After a series of careful planning via online meetings, March 11th-14th, a delegation led by Prof. Rhonda BeLue from Saint Louis University School of Public Health and Social Justice visited the school to carry out business communication and academic exchange.

On March 11th, a discussion on bilateral collaboration on teaching, research and talent cultivation was conducted between visitors and the leaders of the school, including School Party Secretary Ms. Mingfang Huang, Dean Prof. Zhanchun Feng, Vice Dean Hongbing Tao, Vice Dean Xiang Zhang, and Administrator for International Affairs Mr. Rui Zhang.

On March 12th, Prof. Rhonda BeLue, Dr. Leslie Hinyard and Dr. Mei-ling Tung exchanged their research interests with academic staff from Department of Health Management in the morning. Prof. Hongbing Tao, Prof. Xinping Zhang and Prof. Yingchun Chen’s research groups made some inquiries regarding scientific writing, data analysis methods and research design, etc. In the afternoon, Prof. Rhonda BeLue, Dr. Leslie Hinyard and Dr. Mei-ling Tung together delivered a lecture entitled ‘The role of family in health and health care management in diverse, low resource communities’ and a comprehensive introduction themed ‘Why SLU’.

On March 13th, accompanied by Prof. Hongbing Tao, Dr. Ruoxi Wang and Dr. Wei Lu, the delegation visited Tongji Hospital and conducted a though discussion with Director of International Affairs Ms. Pu Wang, Vice Director of Department of Nursing Ms. Ying Wang and Deputy Section Chief of Department of Medical Affairs Mr. Haipeng Xia regarding how to improve service quality, increase the effectiveness and efficiency of HR resource allocation, and expand HR development approaches in medical institutions. Agreement on collaborative cultivation of nursing staff has been reached. In the afternoon, the delegation visited Gutian Primary Healthcare Center, and received information regarding the types of service provided, population coverage, referral model, reimbursement system and the challenges facing primary healthcare centers at the moment. This visit laid a solid foundation for the bilateral collaboration.
