Prof. David Hughes from the University of Swansea acted as visiting professor for one month in our school

To give our postgraduate students the world class training in qualitative research methodology, Prof. David Hughes from the University of Swansea taught our graduate students as the visiting professor for one month from late May to the end of June. His teaching covers qualitative data analysis, mixed research methodology and policy ethnography. He is also one of the five editors of a renowned scholarly journal, Sociology of Health and Illness. As an editor rich in the experience of dealing with the papers written by non-native English speakers, he also shared his valuable knowledge on how to write a good academic paper and to publish in an international peer reviewed journal. All our postgraduate students feel that they have learned a lot from Prof. Hughes. That’s also the reason why Prof. Hughes could harvest thunderous applause from his audience at the end of every lecture. During his stay, Prof. Hughes also gave our young researchers advice for their current work and help them polish their papers. Before leaving Wuhan, both Prof. Hughes and our dean agreed to further strengthen the collaboration between Public Health, Policy and Social Sciences School of Swansea and Medicine and Health Management School of Tongji.
