Dr. Richard Evans from the University of Westminster, UK, visited School of Medical and Health Management to give lectures

On September 4, 2018,Dr. Richard Evans of the University of Westminster in the United Kingdom came to our institute for an academic visit and gave a special academic report. Dr. Richard Evans is an associate professor at the University of Westminster and the chairman of the IEEE TEMS Technical Activity Committee on Engineering Processes. His main research areas are including digital innovation, mobile health and knowledge management; more than 50 important academic papers or conference papers have been published. He is not only a member of the editorial board of international journals such as IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, but also a reviewer of international journals, for instance, the International Journal of Production Research, the International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology. Moreover, Dr. Richard Evans used to be a major participant in EU cross-regional fund projects such as CoRoT (£3.9 million) and BENEFITS (£2.3 million), and he has published papers with many teachers in our department.

On the morning of September 4th, Dr. Richard Evans delivered a lecture entitled “Cost Effective Approaches to ICT and Knowledge Management for Improving Health Management and the Lives of Chinese Citizens” in the report hall on the seventh floor of our department. The lecture was hosted by Professor Ma Jingdong. Graduate students of all grades and some teachers participated in the academic lecture.

In the lecture, firstly, Dr. Richard Evans gave a brief introduction to the challenges of the health management system and the aging population under the globalization. Secondly, he explained the method of cost-effective ICT in the health management system, then put forward the knowledge management method for the health management system. Finally, Dr. Richard Evans proposed the idea of cooperation between the UK and China in response to the challenges of globalization.

On the day of the lecture, the students interacted with Dr. Richard Evans on their own issues. The atmosphere was very warm. In the end, President Feng Zhanchun summarized the contents of the lecture and gave a high evaluation of it, then presented gifts to Dr. Richard Evans. The lecture was successfully completed.
