Professor Tao Hongbing was invited to attend the 11th China Maternal & Child Health Development Conference and give a keynote speech

On the morning of December 27, 2020, the 11th China Maternal & Child Health Development Conference and the Second East Lake Maternal and Child Health Summit Forum, sponsored by China Maternal and Child Health Association and supported by the Maternal and Child Health Service Department of the National Health Commission, the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Save the Children Organization, was held in Wuhan. The conference's theme is Pay homage to the most beautiful anti-epidemic women and children, maternal & child health under normal prevention and control of COVID-19. Combined with the development strategy of Healthy China proposed in the report of the 19th National Congress of the CPC, the conference aims to promote the anti-COVID-19 spirit, exchange academic achievements, and work together for the development of maternal and child health. The conference attracted nearly 4000 experts, scholars, and relevant practitioners in the field of maternal and child health care from all over the world. The leaders and experts attending the conference included Zhang Wenkang, honorary president of China Maternal and Child Health Association; Yang Yunyan, vice governor of Hubei Provincial People's government; Chen Ziquan, President of China Maternal and Child Health Association; Chen Jiawei, Deputy Secretary-General of Hubei Provincial People's government; Li Changming, vice honorary president of China Maternal and Child Health Association; Li Xiangdong, member of the CPC group of Hubei Provincial Health Commission; Ma Ding, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Wen Hua, the representative office of the UNFPA in China, etc.

After the opening ceremony, the keynote speech of the conference was delivered, including Professor Ma Ding, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST); Professor Jiang Fan, representative of the 19th National Congress of the CPC, deputy president of Medical School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Song Li, deputy director of  Department of Maternal and Children of National Health Commission; Professor Qiao Jie, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, President of the Third Hospital of Peking University; Professor Tao Hongbing, vice president of School of Medicine and Health Management of HUST made keynote reports at the conference.





Professor Tao Hongbing, as an expert of DRGs payment national pilot technical guidance group of National Healthcare Security Administration, introduced the necessity and current pilot situation of DRGs payment reform in China and proposed the basic idea of establishing a medical service system with the core of ensuring quality, controlling cost, standardizing diagnosis and treatment, and improving the enthusiasm of medical staff under the background of DRGs payment. He also analyzed the changes in medical behavior and medical mode after DRGs payment and put forward that hospitals should strengthen multi-department communication, improve quality and efficiency, improve performance evaluation, and cultivate specialty ability. At the same time, Professor Tao combined with the origin and development process of the clinical pathway under DRG payment mode and introduced the clinical pathway cases of cervical cancer prevention and treatment. Besides, Professor Tao put forward the development trend and broad prospects of clinical pathway management, emphasized the important significance of promoting the value of medical treatment based on the integration of medical treatment and prevention, and provided new methods and ideas for maternal and child health care service and management under the reform of medical insurance payment.
