Nursing Education Seminar of HUST was successfully held

On April 17, 2019, Nursing Education Seminar of HUST was successfully held in the Lecture Hall on the 4F at School of Basic Medicine. General Party Secretary Ms. Hui Xu hosted the seminar ceremony.

Prof. Jianguo Chen Dean of Tongji Medical College, Vice President of HUST, Prof. Shaomei Shang Dean of School of Nursing at Peking University, Prof. Bei Wu from Rory Meyers School of Nursing at New York University and hundreds of nursing colleagues from Wuhan Union Hospital, Tongji Hospital, Liyuan Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Wuhan, Wuhan Mental Health Center and Wuhan Hospital of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine attended this seminar.

At the beginning of the seminar, Prof. Jing Mao Dean of School of Nursing gave a welcome speech. She welcomed all the guests attending this seminar and hoped that nursing colleagues could work together, made progress together and fought for a promising future together.

Prof. Jianguo Chen shared the upgrading plan for special disciplines at our university. Meanwhile, he stressed the importance of implementing the reform of medical education. Prof. Chen also pointed that only bigger pattern and tighter unity would promote Nursing discipline to grow faster and more efficiency.

At the seminar, Prof. Bei Wu gave a keynote speech with the title of “Undergraduate nursing education under the background of population aging”. Her speech clarified the guidance of population aging to the future development of Nursing from three aspects: the current situation of global population aging, the need for higher nursing education under the background of population aging and the need for nursing human resources at the 21st century. At last, she stated that the nursing education has a very bright future.

Dean Shaomei Shang gave a lecture with the topic of “Analysis on the current situation and issues of the development of nursing master professional degree”. She introduced the development from three aspects including: current health need, the history of nursing education development and the training of research degree and professional degree of nursing at School of Nursing at Peking University.

In the afternoon, our nursing colleagues made a group discuss and leaders of each group made a presentation at the seminar.

In the end, Dean Mao summarized the seminar. She said that School of Nursing will unite with our affiliated hospitals to build a brighter future together.
