From August 7th to 9th, the review team of China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) conducted a forensic appraisal/forensic scientific institution capability accreditation remote supervision review of the Tongji Medicolegal Expertise Center in Hubei (hereinafter referred to as the "center").

The review team leader is Xiaoping Li, the former head of the Criminal Technology Corps of the Public Security Department of Heilongjiang Province. The technical review experts include Li Liu, deputy head of the Criminal Investigation Corps of the Beijing Public Security Bureau, Feng Liu, Criminal Science and Technology Research Institute of the Public Security Department of Liaoning Province, and Bo Wang, director of the Technical Processing and Inspection Office of the Criminal Investigation Detachment of the Xiamen Public Security Bureau.

Daixin Huang, director of the Department of Forensic Medicine and director of the center, Xuemei Ren, secretary of the Party Committee of the Department of Forensic Medicine, Yiwu Zhou, deputy director of the Department of Forensic Medicine, Shaohua Yi, deputy director and quality leader of the center, Liang Ren, deputy director and technical leader of the center, heads of appraisal offices and relevant judicial appraisers also attended the review meeting.

The strict review work was presided over by the team leader Xiaoping Li. The experts of the assessment team have been able to assess the compliance, scientificity, continuity and effectiveness of the management system, facility environment, personnel level and technical capabilities of the center by listening to reports, consulting system documents, recording and appraisal files, on-site demonstrations and questioning. Experts of the review team agreed that the center has a complete organizational structure, clear internal responsibilities, scientific and rigorous appraisal procedures, personnel capabilities meet requirements, equipment environment meets needs, and various procedures, related quality activities and all elements are in a state of control. At the same time, the operation of the central management system is basically effective, has the ability to continuously improve itself, and meets the requirements of the accreditation criteria and its application instructions. The experts of the review team agreed that the center passed the supervision and review and added an authorized signatory. At the same time, they put forward constructive opinions on further improving the quality of the center's judicial authentication work. The center will focus on evaluation and promotion to provide a solid quality guarantee for future judicial appraisal work.

The successful passage of this supervision and review marks that the system management level and personnel technical capabilities of the Tongji Medicolegal Expertise Center in Hubei continue to meet the requirements of national-level appraisal institutions, and will help the center further improve the quality management system and continue to provide scientific, rigorous, objective and fair judicial authentication services for the society.
