On the afternoon of January 5th, President Li Yuanyuan, Vice President Chen Jianguo, Vice President Xu Xiaodong, and leaders of functional departments of Huazhong University of Science and Technology went to the Institute of Reproductive Health to investigate and guide the preparation of the "14th Five-Year Plan", and listened to the report of the Institute. Secretary and Director Liao Aihua, Deputy Secretary Tian Desheng, Deputy Director Li Honggang, research team directors, teacher representatives, and student representatives participated in the survey and discussion.

President Li and his entourage visited the zebrafish experimental platform, genome editing platform, stem cell experimental platform, new material cross-transformation experimental platform, public experiment platform and other experimental platforms of the Institute, and discussed the history, discipline construction, and talent training, scientific research and so on in detail. President Li is very concerned about the scientific research of reproductive health, focusing on "reproductive health and healthy reproduction", and emphasized that the future research of the institute should be oriented to the national reproductive policy, the healthy reproduction needs of the broad masses of people, and the double-class construction of the school. The development direction should focus on cross-integrating of reproductive medicine and other majors such as science, engineering, and life sciences. President Li is very concerned about the construction of the faculty team of the Institute. He has had a cordial conversation with Professor Yuan Shuiqiao, Professor Zhou Liquan, and Professor Xiao Xianjin, who have been introduced at home and abroad in recent years, to understand the difficulties in work and life and encourage more innovative research outcomes.

President Li emphasized that the Institute of Reproductive Health is a very distinctive research institute, and its academic strength ranks among the top in the country. Significant achievements have been achieved during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period. Thus, it is necessary to make a plan in the "14th Five-Year Plan", to expand the development space, increase the introduction of talents, further expand and strengthen the institute, and make a greater contribution to the reproductive health in my country.

During the on-site visit, President Li paid great attention to safe production and asked relevant school departments and the institute to investigate potential safety hazards such as office space, storage of large-scale experimental equipment, and power overload to ensure safe campus construction.
