On June 9^th to 11^th, the 2^nd Symposium for Maternal-Fetal Medicine＆the 6^th New Trends in Clinical and Basic Research on Reproductive Immunology was held in Shenzhen. It was organized by the Obstetrics Clinical Research Consortium and the Embryo Implantation and Placental Development Research Consortium, and hosted by the Xiamen University Key Laboratory of Reproductive Regulation and Reproductive Health Research and Shenzhen Zhongshan Urological Hospital. Dr. Aihua Liao from the Institute of Reproductive Health led the members of the reproductive immunity team including Drs. Donghui Huang and Chunyan Liu as well as several postgraduate students to attend the meeting.

More than 600 experts, scholars and clinicians attended this meeting. With the innovative goal of expanding horizons, enhancing communication and closing to the actual clinical work, the meeting focused on the exchange of new advances and achievements in the fields of basic maternal-fetal medicine and pregnancy-related diseases.

Dr. Liao was invited to give a lecture on "Uterine microenvironmental macrophages: the guardians of pregnancy", who shared the latest advances on the role, mechanism and clinical applications of macrophages in normal pregnancy and pregnancy immune-related diseases (recurrent miscarriage, preeclampsia, etc.). Her talk aroused enthusiastic responses from the participating scholars and experts.

In this meeting, a special session was set for the young scholars, either in oral presentation or in poster display. This session aimed to stimulate and encourage the young scholars to actively devote in the field of maternal-fetal medicine and reproductive immunology. A total of 94 abstracts were submitted, and only 12 were selected for oral presentation. Miss Huan Wang, a postgraduate student supervised by Dr. Liao, was selected to give an oral presentation entitled "IL-10 induced differentiation of peripheral monocytes into metabolic macrophages: a new mechanism of metabolism". And she was awarded the excellence prize.

Last but not least, the team also presented the latest research progress at the poster session, which attracted the attention of the participants. (Reported by Zhijing Li)
