HU Shengshou

Academician HU Shengshou, an expert in cardiovascular surgery, was born in Wuhan, Hubei Province. He graduated from the Clinical Medicine Department of Wuhan Medical College (the name which wasnow Tongji Medical College of HUST in 1955-1985) in 1982, and obtained a master's degree in surgery from Peking Union Medical College (the name which wasnow Peking Union Medical College) in 1989. He is now theDirector of the National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases, President of Fuwai Hospital.

Professor HU has long been engaged in clinical, teaching, and scientific research in cardiovascular surgery, established a series of minimally invasive treatment technologies for coronary heart disease surgery in my country, and developed a new model of "combined technology" for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases; created our country's first key experiment of cardiovascular regenerative medicine. The laboratory has achieved a series of research results ranging from cardiomyocyte regeneration to heart transplantation and artificial heart development; established the aorta-pulmonary artery "dual root switch surgery (DRT)", which has significantly improved the international impact of the treatment of complex congenital heart disease in our country force.He has undertaken the national "973" project, "863" project, "support plan project" and other research Projects, won 3 second prizes for National Scientific and Technological Progress, 3 first prizes of Scientific and Technological progressat Provincial and Ministerial Level , 5 second prizes. As the first author or corresponding author, he published 247 papers,among which 104 were included in SCI. In 2013, he was elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
